Six Harbour Villages


This is a circular walk of 10 miles from Fishbourne to Bosham, crossing the channel by ferry (fee payable) to Itchenor and then along to Birdham, Dell Quay and Apuldram, finishing back in Fishbourne. It is walkable any weekend from Easter to the end of September when the ferry is open. In summer months the ferry operates daily.

Terrain details: Mostly shoreline path but some roads and other paths. Surfaces may be uneven and often wet underfoot.

Amenities available on route: Toilets - are available in Bosham car park, Itchenor (by Harbour Office) and at Chichester Marina (in the corner toilet block on the north side of the marina lock). Cafés - there are two cafés in Bosham - one on the shoreline called Mariners and one inside the art and craft centre. Chichester Marina has Spinnakers Café (you will need to detour to the small marina ‘village’ before you cross over the marina lock). Pubs - there are two pubs in Fishbourne close to the start - The Woolpack and The Bulls Head. In Bosham the Anchor Bleu is on the shoreline. At Itchenor the Ship Inn is located 200 yards up the road from the water. At Dell Quay you will pass the Crown and Anchor.
How to get there: By car - Parking is free in the church car park, but please be aware that it can be crowded on Saturday afternoons in summer for weddings! There are plenty of parking spaces in the Bosham pay and display car park. By bus - there is a bus service from Chichester to Fishbourne and Bosham. For bus information telephone 01903 237661.
