A hilly walk with a few long uphill stretches - make sure you stop regularly to appreciate the impressive views! The walk starts at Box Hill station in the village of Westhumble, and passes through part of the Polesden Lacey Estate, Ranmore Common and Denbies Vineyard. The route follows part of the North Downs Way National Trail.

Amenities available on route: The Stepping Stones pub is 300m from Box Hill station. Turn right along Westhumble Street. Denbies vineyard has a restaurant and cafeteria open to the public.
How to get there: Trains run between London Victoria and Horsham via Dorking, and stop at Boxhill station approximately hourly, or half-hourly on Sundays (service provided by Southern trains). Bus 465 runs between Dorking, Leatherhead, Kingston and Fulwell (provided by Tellings Golden Miller). Get off at the Westhumble Street bus stop on the A24 and walk along Westhumble Street to reach the station.The Surrey Hills Explorer Bus (NT1) this year runs from 14th April 2006 until 29th October 2006 at weekends and on Bank Holidays, and connects with trains from London, Guildford, Reigate and other towns across Surrey at Dorking and Dorking Deepdene stations. The buses stop at Denbies Vineyard on weekends and bank holidays, and Ranmore Common on Sundays and bank holiday Mondays. For timetables or further information, please call 01372 452048. From the Vineyard, turn right out of the car park and walk past farm buildings to start the walk at point 9. From Ranmore Common, start the walk near point 6 by St Barnabus Church. Parking: Car park on Crabtree Lane - start the walk from point 2. There is also a small car park at the station.
